You will need the following items to make your casket spray:
Floral container
Floral foam
Utility knife
Water
Flower food
Assorted flowers
Assorted greens
Personalized ribbon
Follow these steps to make your casket spray:
Step 1:
Select a floral container that will fit on the easel you plan to use.
Step 2:
Cut a piece of floral foam with a utility knife so it fits snugly inside the floral container you chose in Step 1.
Step 3:
Place the floral foam in a bowl that contains water and flower food. The foam will soak up the water and food to keep your flowers healthy until the funeral is over. Once the foam has soaked up the water, set it inside the floral container.
Step 4:
Gather the flowers and greens you want to use in your funeral spray. You can use the flowers that the deceased was the most fond of, or you can take Flower Arrangement Advisor's suggestion of using white lilies and white roses.
Step 5:
Push the flower stems into the foam. Make sure the stems are far enough in the foam that the flower is stable and doesn't wobble. Remember that you only need to cover the front half of the flower container.
Step 6:
Add some greens to the funeral spray. Ivy, leatherleaf ferns and hosta leaves are all good choices. Press the greens down in between the flowers you used in Step 5.
Step 7:
Attach a ribbon with the deceased individual's name on it to the bottom or top of the floral spray.
Tips:
Use floral tape on the sides of the floral foam if it doesn't fit snugly in the container.
Store the floral spray in a refrigerator if made a day or two ahead of time.
