How to Catch Razor Clams with Salt

David Robertson
Razor Clams live under the sand and use their powerful foot to stay safely under the surface. The best and most fun way to catch Razor Clams is by using salt. Get an old empty washing up liquid bottle or any bottle that you can squirt water out of and make a very strong solution of salt water (more salt the better for catching razor clams!). Then head too the beach with a plastic bag to put your razor clams in. Now start at the shore line and look only in the shallow water where there's only a couple inches or so of water and look for little holes in the sand (This is where the razor clams live!). The holes about an inch or so in diameter will be the razor clams hideout. All you have to do is squirt some salt solution on-top and into the hole and the razor clam will come rushing to the surface to suck up all that lovely salt. Then when its fully out just scoop it up and put it in your bag. Easy!
