How to Make a Catwoman Halloween Costume

Kelly O'Neil
If you long to be Halle Berry from the 2004 flick, are a mega fan of the Batman inspired comic books, or just want to get in touch with you sexy feline side Catwoman is the purr-fect Halloween costume for you. While you can find many commercial Catwoman costumes in stores or online, a homemade costume is less expensive and lets you adjust the, well, coverage of your ensemble. Here are a few ways to show your sexy side and make your Halloween the cat's meow with your Catwoman costume.

Put your best feline face forward in a variety of ways. A simple black Mardi Gras style mask (available at craft stores) can be worn alone or jazzed up with some glitter or fabric pen accents. Heavy makeup is a good substitute for a mask. Even if you do wear a mask, line your eyes in black, bring the outside corner out to simulate cat eyes. You probably will not wear your mask all night and you want your look to be complete, mask or no mask. If you opt for wearing ears, you can find very cheap ones in the Halloween aisle, or simply attach two fabric triangles to a black headband.

If you are a hottie, dawn a black bikini top and leather pants or leggings. If you want to be sexy, but a little less exposed there are other options. You can wear a black cat suit, a black leotard and leggings, black skinny jeans with a body skimming top, or a slinky black sweat suit for the bulk of your costume. Just a note, if you are thinking of buying a pair of leather pants anyway, and your budget permits it, leather is surprisingly figure flattering. Try a few on and you will immediately feel bad... in a good way, and they work well for your Catwoman costume, too.

What you wear on your feet is critical for perfecting your prowl. Shiny, black, stiletto heeled boots are ideal, but if investing in boots for a Halloween costume is a bit much for you, any black stiletto heels, other heels or boots, will do. Just make sure to get into character and strut your stuff in whatever you wear.

The details are what will really make your costume fierce. Careful makeup, sculptured hair, long black (preferably fingerless) gloves, a length of Halle Berry-esque chain, and well placed bling will make your costume great. Catwoman is over-the-top, so do not worry about overdoing it.

Catwoman is a great costume to wear if you want to feel sexy, but do not feel like donning one of those cutesy Alice in Wonderland mini-dresses. However you design your Catwoman costume, have fun, get into character, and have a safe and Happy Halloween!
