How to Celebrate Your Birthday!
Birthdays Were Not Designed to Make You "feel" Older; They Were Designed to Make You Feel "special!"
To many; mostly the young and firm, a birthday is an opportunity for attention. Birthdays are posted on all the social networks, "Hey, it's my birthday!" and friends scramble to be a part of it. Everyone worships you for a full day, lavishes you with compliments, gifts and meals and relishes the big day with you.
But, for those of us who have seen our last 30 something, 40 something or even 50 something birthday it feels like a magnifying glass, magnifying that we are no longer young. We make every effort to keep the birthday a secret. We hope that our family will forget and wish the day would just go away! But why? What's wrong with getting a little attention one day a year? After all if your friends and family revel in your birth, why can't you?
We are all special, from the firm to the not so firm. We all have incredible experiences to contribute and we've all contributed something to the world around us and that is definitely worth a celebration. Birthdays aren't going anywhere and neither are you, so why not splurge and let friends and family share it with you?
There are three items in my life that I cannot live without and stash money away for just for my birthday. Purses, shoes and perfume, these are the three items I cannot live without. I save up for months and when the special day arrives, I go shopping! I stop and buy my favorite iced latte and head for my favorite stores. Sometimes I go alone, or bring a friend and I spend the day looking for the perfect shoes, bag and scents
Something magical happens when I find my prizes, suddenly I feel fantastic. I feel young and pretty, desirable and in fashion and the feelings of old age melts away. I revel in my day and I go out of my way to make my day as special as possible
So, if today is your birthday and you're struggling with negative feelings, get rid of them! Put on something pretty and get out of the house, buy your favorite piece of clothing, or eat out with friends, have a margarita and relax. Throw yourself a party and let your loved ones express how they feel about you.
Do what is most important to you, whatever brings you joy and smile because you are special! Happy Birthday everyone!
Birthdays are not the devil; they are a gift so open up and have a ball!
