First makes sure all of your hazardous material such as bleach, cleaning products, soap and so forth are put in a safe place where children cannot get to them. If you only have a cupboard then that will work also.
If you only have a cupboard then what you have to do in order to keep your child out of it is buy then zip ties and put them around the handles of the cupboards so the child cannot open them.
Another good idea is if you have the space keep them all in your garage up on a high shelf somewhere where they cannot reach them. A child will put anything in their mouths.
Another good idea is to keep medicine in a safe place too. If need be put medicine in a special cupboard all by itself and make sure you put a zip tie on that cupboard too so they do not get their little fingers on the medicine.
Children will get into anything they are not suppose to be in. Especially medicine. So make sure you have all your medicine in a safe place so they cannot reach them easily.
Another thing you need to keep away from children is electrical stuff when they are near water. Make sure when they are getting a bath that everything that is electric is put in a safe place so they do not accidentally pull it in to the tub with them and get electrocuted.
Many children die because of electrocution when it could have been prevented in the first place. So make sure everything that is electric is away from your children at all times until they get old enough to use them.
Also make sure if you have a little baby crawling about that all the little pieces of toys are picked up and put away somewhere safe so they do not get a hold of a piece and put it in their mouths and choke on it.
Another good thing to keep away from children is kitchen knives and carving knives and well knives period. You can even zip tie your silverware drawer shut. I had to when I had kids in the house.
There are a lot of things around the house that kids can get very hurt from. If you just stop for a minute and look at everything in your house, it is almost everything you have is a danger to kids or infants.
I have raised two boys and when they were little I just stood in my house and looked at everything that could be a hazard to them and it was basically everything. If you can store anything in the garage do it because that is the safest place to put stuff only if it is on a high shelf somewhere away from little hands.
