You Can Make These Safe Non Toxic Products in Your Very Own Kitchen

Children are so adorable, they can have so much fun with the simplest things. I have put together a list of directions to make what are considered to be many childrens all time favorites. These items have been around for years and still continue to delight children all over the word. You can make these safe non toxic products in your very own kitchen, just follow the easy directions below.

Finger Paints

2 cups of flour
2 packets of unsweetened powdered drink mix (like Kool-Aid)
1/2 cup of salt
3 tablespoons of oil
3 cups of boiling water
Directions - Mix together all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the oil and stir. Slowly mix in the boiling water and allow the mixture to cool.

Finger painting can be messy, so cover your child with an apron or one of Dads old work shirts. Painting is a great way to teach your child about colors, as well as a chance for them to explore their creativity.

Flubber

1 teaspoon Metamucil
1cup Water
1 to 2 drops food coloring (optional)

If you prefer you can use About a tbsp of unsweetened powdered drink mix, in place of food coloring.
Directions - Mix all of the ingredients in a microwave bowl. Microwave on high approx. 4 to 5 minutes or until the mixture bubbles to the top of the bowl. Turn off the microwave and let cool about a minute. Then repeat the above procedure another 5 times. The more times this step is repeated the more rubbery the flubber will get. Once at a satisfactory consistency, carefully pour the (very hot) mixture onto a cookie sheet and spread out with a spoon. Allow to cool. Use cookie cutters or a knife to cut into fun shapes. Flubber can be stored at room temperature in a sealed baggie for several months. It will last indefinitely in a sealed bag in the refrigerator.

Tips: If the flubber is sticky then the amount of water needs to be reduced. Use less water next time.

Play-Doh

2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional for improved elasticity)
food coloring or unsweetened drink mix
scented oils

Directions - Mix all of the ingredients together, and stir over low heat. The dough will begin to thicken. When the dough pulls away from the sides and begins to form a clump in the center, remove from heat and allow the dough to cool enough to handle.

Tip: If your Play-Doh is still sticky, keep cooking and stirring until the dough is dry and feels like Play-Doh.

Magic Bubbles

1 tbsp glycerin
2 tbsp dish soap
9 oz water
Directions - Mix the ingredients in a plastic bottle with a lid. For best results let rest over night. Glycerin is inexpensive and can be found in most drug stores.

Bubble Wand

Use two pipe cleaners, one for the loop and one for the handle. Twist tightly together.

Note: Every attempt has been made to provide safe and informative information. Although It is your responsibility to choose activities you deem safe for your children. All of the above recipes are intended to be made by adults only.
