There is nothing more irritating for a parent than to look into a child's closet and see all the new clothes you just purchased for them thrown on the floor. This is usually what happens in many homes after parents have taken their children back to school shopping. Why does this happen? Simply due to the fact that kids will be kids. So how can you fix this problem? Well, before school starts give your child's closet the makeover it needs. Below are a few tips on how you can get your child's closet in to top shape. Trust me, when I tell you that it will be worth the effort when the first day of school comes around.
Closet dump
One of the simplest ways to get started is to remove everything from the closet. This is usually the part that most of the kids enjoys. Neatly take all of the clothes out of the closet and place it on their bed. Shoes should also be placed in a separate pile. You will even want to remove any toys stored in the closet, and all of the hangers. You basically want to be looking at a completely empty closet. Once you have completely removed everything from the closet you can focus on sweeping and dusting it out. You don't want anything to ruin the new clothes you just put in their for the school season right?
Hang up all shirts and pants
A trip to the store may be in order to make sure that you have enough hangers. I have found it really helps to keep things neat and organized if you hang up all of your children's shirts and their pants. This will leave plenty of room in the drawer space, for undergarments as well as any clothes that may be deemed play clothes.
Put like clothes together
When you hang your clothes back up hang up the like clothes together. You can hang up the pants together and hang up the shirts together as well. This will make it much easier for kids to get their outfits together when it is time to get ready for school. This is especially beneficial to families with young girls who need everything just right.
Out of season out of sight
When the season is over you can put the out of season clothes in the back of the closet. Or you can choose to pack them away. The main idea is to keep them out of the way until the season changes and you need them again.
