How to Choose the Best Chocolate

Malcolm Tatum
Just about everybody loves chocolate, but there is an art to choosing the right kind of chocolate for that special someone. If you want to make sure the chocolate you give is the best chocolate for the situation, try these simple tips.

Step 1

Know what the recipient likes. Some folks are partial to dark chocolate, while others love the texture and taste of milk chocolate. Some are purists, while others love chocolate with a touch of the exotic. Make sure the chocolates you select fit the personality and the tastes of the person who will receive them, and you can't go wrong.

Step 2

Go for something special. Instead of grabbing a box at the drugstore, go to a local confectioner and get something that is not mass produces. This little extra effort will be appreciated by the recipient, and may introduce him or her to a chocolate source in the community that is new and different.

Step 3

Be picky. Don't grab the first likely set of chocolates that come your way. In fact, take some time at that local chocolate shop and put together an mixture that is likely to delight the eyes as well as the taste buds. This will help make the gift a little more personal, which is always a good thing.

Step 4

Remember that presentation's the thing. Have the chocolates wrapped in a beautiful box with a big bow, an attractive basket, or some other wrapping that catches the eye. It will add to the delight of getting the chocolate, and make the gift more memorable that it would be if you simply pulled a plain box out of a shopping bag.

Tips and Warnings

While you want to impress, keep in mind that a higher price does not necessarily mean better quality. Put anything you are thinking of giving a loved one to the taste test. If it doesn't taste good to you, then the recipient will probably not like it much either.
