There Are Many Options Open to You but You Might Not Know Where to Start
Define Your Strengths and Weaknesses
The Army has options for just about everyone. Whether you are still in high school, have a general education diploma or a college graduate, there are career choices available for you. The Army provides help with college tuition and various sign on bonuses. There are great bonuses for people who already have college credits or who are transferring from another branch of service such as the Navy. There are jobs ranging from information technology to band members. You will want to think about what you are interested in and have a passion for. You can feel free to choose a career goal that will profit you personally and financially in the future.
Research Various Army Careers
Check out careersinthemilitary.com. This site has a comprehensive guide to each job available in the United States Army. The best part about this site is the 'civilian counterpart' section at the bottom of each career page. This shows you what kind of jobs you can get with the skills you learn in the Army. This site also offers detailed job descriptions and the various education or rank you will need to apply for each position. There are so many available jobs, it can take a while to navigate through them all but this is very important. You will want to pick a job with the military that will benefit you now and in the future, and also a job you feel comfortable with and that will be rewarding for you.
Talk to a Recruiter
You can easily contact an Army recruiter in almost any area of the United States. You can call 1-800-GO-ARMY to find a recruiter nearest you. Be sure and tell the recruiter about your personal and professional goals. It is fine to just talk and consider an Army career. The recruiter will be knowledgeable and friendly. They will answer any questions you may have about the Army. You can tell them about what is going on in your life and what you would like to accomplish. It is common to talk to the recruiter before you are immediately ready to join the Army. If you have things going on in your life you want to take care of before you sign up, that is fine too. The recruiter will be able to help you choose a career path and will help you with what to do next.
