How to Choose a Grocery StoreChoosing a grocery store is one of the easiest parts of shopping. When it comes to choosing the right grocery store for you there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Think about location, your favorite brands, your budget and things that you want in a grocery store.

LocationUsually, location plays a big part in selecting a grocery store. What's the point in driving 30 miles to your favorite grocery store to save a few pennies. You will end up spending more than that in gas. Do your research- find what grocery stores are with in a reasonable distance from your home and office. Find one that is convenient for you.

Budget

What would you like to see in your grocery store?

When selecting your grocery store, don't forget to look for things that you would like to have. If you prefer fresh baked breads then consider picking one with a bakery. If you love the fresh rotisserie chickens, then look for a store that has a bakery and a deli. Another thing to remember is your meats. Do you mind having prepacked meat or would you rather have a butcher so that you have a better selections on meats? If you have to drive 20 miles to get these things then decide if it worth it? Are the savings from your other store worth giving it up? You may want to choose a local store that is more convenient, cheaper, and has your favorite brands. You can make an occasional trip to go to the grocery store that includes you bakery, deli, and butcher.

While there is no certain grocery store that you have to shop from, some are more convenient to others. When choosing your primary grocery store take these things into consideration, which is more important to you- having a butcher or saving twenty dollar on each trip to the grocery store? Is it worth you making the extra trip once every two weeks to fill the freezer full of meats? Think about what really important to you and then check around to find the perfect grocery store that meets you needs! It doesn't make much since to find a grocery store that's close, but is outrageously priced. Find a grocery store that has low prices with out having travel across country. Sometimes you can check your daily newspaper to find specials, coupons and much more on your favorite grocery store. Look through the ads and find the most reasonable priced grocery stores. Also, take into consideration, the store brand.

For instance if you prefer to save a few cents by using Great Value, then by all means you need to be going to Wal-Mart. If you like Astro then you would choose Winn-Dixie. Compare the products of both store brands. Which is cheaper? Which product do you like better? After you find the ones that are the best priced check out the location. See which is better and compare the prices to the location. Sometimes when choosing a grocery store that is closer and more convenient you will also have to give up your favorite brands. Take into consideration that some of your favorite products may not be available at other stores. Decide what more important to you. Location or brands? If your favorite store is too far away then consider shopping at your local grocery store and taking an occasional trip to your favorite grocery store to get your favorite products that only they offer.

I just go to the one that isn't the Wal-Mart supercenter.

I mostly go to Safeway because it is closer, has a wider variety of product choices, and is not as crowded as Wal-Mart. I just can't stand Wal-Mart most days!

Unfortunately, the biggest factor for me is blood pressure.. lol. Wal-mart is the closest and most economical, however it is crowded day and night. I have even tried shopping at 2 a.m. So sometimes for sake of sanity, I drive a bit further to Winn Dixie...
