How to Choose a Mommies Group

Choosing a playgroup is easy, but there are a few things that you want to keep in mind. Most of the groups that you are choosing from are online and you need to ensure your safety. Almost all of the groups are legitimate and safe. But do not be complacent.

Unless you know the person that has started the group, do not be the first to sign up. If it is a group that you have to pay dues for, do not provide credit card information. The group owner should accept payment in person when you meet up.

Since this is different than a social networking site where you may never meet the people you are talking to, be sure that you are honest about everything you post. If you are not a mom of a toddler, do not claim that you are. If you are not a professional golfer, do not say you are. The point of these groups is to meet others that have similar interests.

Stick to public sites, like meetup.com. If you are in a meet up group with a social networking site, make the information private. Forum based websites that are exclusive to certain groups, like cafemom.com is better for this type of networking because it is monitored by the administration of the site closely.

Last but not least, invite all of your friends! Get togethers are so much fun, and the more the merrier! So, stay safe, have fun, and get out there to meet new friends!
