How to Choose the Next Set of Golf Clubs for You

Lance Esondi
If you have got into golfing, at some point in time you are going to want to get your own clubs. You might have borrowed them from someone or rented them to get into the game, but you are ready to get your own clubs. When going out and choosing a set of clubs, this can be a difficult experience since there are so many options out there.

Don't make the most common mistake every beginner golfer makes. Don't buy clubs right off the shelf. These don't really fit most people. They are made for the average person but everyone is shaped different. You need something that fits you as a person and not something that is very generic. If you get clubs that don't fit you, you won't play as well making the game more frustrating for you.

You have to test out your potential club purchases. Go to a range and rent a few clubs. Get some different brands and different lengths to find out what works best for you. Once you get the ones that feel the most comfortable, you will know the sizes that you are comfortable with and which ones you like the best.

One big mistake many beginners also make is buying a set of clubs before they have an established form. The reason is that your improper form might fit one size of club but as you improve it, these clubs won't work for you anymore. Get a swing that is always consistent before making significant purchases. You might need an instructor to help you with this.

Grip is something that you will need to focus on as well. Don't forget this. Find out which rips work for you and which ones aren't so comfortable. Yes, these can be replaced later on, but you might as well order the ones that you like from day one.
