Nobody has the right to tell you to stop using all these appliances and do all the work by yourself. But you can certainly take some precautions to protect our Mother Earth. Wondering how that is possible, very simple, when you buy your home appliances go for the ones that have a bright yellow energy guide tag attached to it. This energy guide tag will give you an estimate of how much of energy is consumed to operate a particular home appliance.
Let's take the refrigerator for example, as you know that refrigerators are the ones which consume the highest amount of energy, as they work round the clock. The energy guide tag for the most thrifty refrigerator requires only 700 kilowatt-hour of electricity for the year. Whereas, the normal one consumes 1200 kilowatt-hours to do the same job. In such a scenario you can choose the one which consumes lesser energy.
This not only applies to refrigerators, but also to all other home appliances, like your electric burners, dishwashers, washing machines, and others. This is a little thing to keep in mind while you are purchasing them.
Energy can be saved more efficiently when they are in use. For instance when you are using your washing machine, do not run them very often with less load, because no matter how much is the load the energy consumed is the same. Therefore, you might as well accumulate clothes and run your machine, which not only saves energy but also your time and money. You can also make sure that you switch off the power and unplug the appliances wherein the energy consumed on the lights and display would be saved. Even cleaning filters on a regular basis would help in saving energy.
All these things are not something new to you, this is what all of us do in our day to day life. But taking care of these minute things can be of great help in avoiding some major disaster. If you still have a second thought that if only one person takes all these precautions what difference is that going to make. Keep in mind only little drops of water make a mighty ocean.
