How to Choose the Perfect Sofa

The living room is undoubtedly important room in your house. It's where you family gets together to enjoy a comfortable night of rental movies or where your friends linger when they come over to visit. It's only natural that you want to keep this area as pleasant as possible... and that all starts with your sofa.

A sofa is the piece of furniture that is used most often out of all the pieces in your house. It's the most important piece of furniture in your house because it can be used as a multi-seater chair or even a bed (if you make your wife angry). It's a very comforting and relaxing piece of furniture.

Because the sofa is so important, you should make an effort to choose the best piece for you. There are many different styles to choose from and it can get confusing if you don't have a definite style in mind. However, you can make it much easier on yourself by doing research before you start looking so that you can anticipate the pros and cons of each material and style. As a matter of fact, shopping for anything at all will be easier if you define what you want before you go searching for it.

First, consider what you'll be using it for. Sitting is an obvious reason, but some people also want their sofas to convert into a bed. This is useful if you don't have enough rooms in your house, can't afford a separate bed, or plan on having visitors that will sleep in the living room. If you do decide that you want a sofa bed, keep in mind that it will be a fairly large couch that typically seats 2-3 people. Although most sofa beds are large, you may be able to find a small sofa that folds out to a single person bed if you look hard enough.

Next consider how you plan on maintaining the couch. If it's leather you need to prepare for costly repairs and time-consuming leather maintenance. Leather sofas are okay for colder climates, but if you live in a humid area the sticky feeling might become unbearable. It's a food thing leather sofas aren't the only choice.

There are also cloth type sofas, which feel much cooler than leather in warm climates. These are fairly easy to maintain, but can prove troublesome if ever a stain should occur. Luckily, most spot cleaners are safe for cloth-material sofas, but you'll have to put the elbow grease in.

My personal favorite in Microfiber sofas. They are comfortable yet stylish and easy to maintain. The cost of cleaning these sofas is much less than most other type of sofas. However, before cleaning a Microfiber sofa, please keep in mind that they are easy damages by ordinary bleaches and fabric softeners. You will have to buy special cleaning solutions to properly care for a Microfiber sofa, but it's still much more cost effective than the majority of other sofas on the market.

Consider these points carefully before buying a sofa so that you can make an informed decision that you won't regret.
