The overall success of a wedding will be determined by the quality of the wedding vendors that a bride hires. For a delicious wedding cake a bride should hire only the best pastry chef and if she wants her special day chronicled she should only hire the best videographer.

When it comes to shopping for a wedding gown it is equally as important for brides to spend the time finding just the right bridal salon to shop at, as it will ultimately determine her overall shopping experience.

Here is an overview of what brides should look for in a bridal salon.

Reputation-Although a bridal salon can claim to offer impeccable customer service that may not be the truth. Brides should always check with the Better Business Bureau to see if a particular bridal salon is in good standing with the organization. By contacting the Better Business Bureau brides will be able to obtain information about the salon including time in business, the owners' history, and whether or not it has received any complaints. In addition brides can verify a bridal salon's reputation by utilizing online websites such as "Wedding Wire.com" or "Refer Links.com" where they can obtain recommendations or referrals and read reviews posted by former clients.

Customer Service and Expertise-Shopping for a wedding gown is an exciting task but it can be a little intimidating. Before brides shop at a certain bridal salon it's important that they find out if the staff has been professionally trained and/or certified. A great bridal salon will retain the most reputable and professionally trained staff in order to assist brides with their most significant purchase. Not only is it important for the staff to be professionally trained they should also have good customer service skills as they will have to form a relationship with each bride.

Location and Business Hours- The average bride will need to have 2 fitting appointments which require her to visit a bridal salon multiple times. Selecting a salon that offers convenient business hours as well as one that is in close proximity to her home will not only accommodate her busy schedule it will ultimately save her time.

Environment-As with everything else first impressions are very important, and they will ultimately determine whether or not a bride will utilize a business' services. The same rule applies to bridal salons, as it should be a well organized establishment, designed with the bride in mind, and should be very clean. Brides should feel comfortable in every shopping environment especially when making a significant purchase like her wedding gown.

On-Site Alteration Services-Because everyone differs in size it's common for brides to have their wedding gowns altered. For this reason it's very important that she choose a salon that offers on-site alteration services performed by an experienced seamstress. A reputable bridal salon will guarantee its products and/or services so if a bride has any problems with the alteration process the salon will help the bride rectify the situation. On the other hand a bridal salon that sends their brides off-site, they will not guarantee another professionals work and therefore will not assist the bride if any problems arise during the alteration process.

Store Policies-Before making any purchase, it's vital that brides know what the store policies are by asking a lot of questions such as "are the alterations included in the cost of the gown," "can the bridal salon store the gown up until the wedding day" and "what is the refund and/or return policy," just to name a few. To select the right bridal salon brides must have these questions answered in order to make an informed decision.

There are countless bridal salons that claim to cater to every bride but unfortunately that isn't always the case. Brides must consider these important factors before purchasing her wedding gown from a specific salon. By doing so not only will she save time she will ultimately enjoy her shopping experience.
