How to Choose the Right Vacation Rental on Tybee Island, Georgia

Choosing the right vacation rental anywhere can be quite the task. When it comes to choosing the right vacation rental on Tybee Island there are many factors to consider before agreeing to put your hard earned money down on it. Here are a few suggested items for you to think about when you are choosing the right vacation rental on Tybee Island, Georgia for your family's next beach vacation.

Price - Price is a huge concern for most families in today's society. When you are planning your family vacation, everything revolves around your budget. Therefore, the price that you can afford for your vacation rental on Tybee Island can really determine what kind of place you will be able to stay in for your vacation. From my experience on Tybee Island, the closer to the beach that you want to stay, the higher the price of the vacation rental. There can be up to a $1,000 price difference per week's rental between a beach location and a rental home a few blocks inland.

Type of Vacation Rental - The type of vacation rental that you choose can make a big difference for how you plan your whole stay on Tybee Island. There are several hotels on Tybee Island to choose from. These may generally be a bit cheaper than the rental houses and condos but they won't have as many amenities as the houses and condos will provide. If you plan to be out in nature for most of your vacation or if you plan to eat out for all meals, then a hotel room may be what you are looking for. If you have a large family, need more space and would like to save money on eating out by cooking yourself, then a vacation rental house or condo may be just the place for you. There are a lot more vacation rental houses and condos available on Tybee Island than there are hotels. Most of these are downright gorgeous and there are many available that will accomodate your family size no matter how large or small.

Amenities - Amenities are another important thing to think about when choosing the right vacation rental for your family vacation to Tybee. For hotels you will have the usual hotel amenties. Housekeeping every day, clean linens anytime you need them, a pool to swim in and even room service is available in some hotels. If you choose a rental house or condo then you will have different amenities available to you than at a hotel. You will, of course, have to clean the rental place yourself, you may have to bring your own linens (though uncommon from what I've seen), you will have to bring your own things like hairdryers, soaps, trash bags and possibly even cleaning supplies. You will definitely have to leave the house or condo in that same perfect condition as it was when you arrived. On the plus side you will have more privacy, a bigger space (especially helpful with children), a kitchen to cook in (saves money) and even a washer and dryer in most vacation rental houses and condos, which come in handy for vacations longer than a few days.

Location - As stated above, location can have a big effect on the cost of your vacation rental on Tybee Island. Location can also have a big effect on how enjoyable your Tybee Island vacation is for you and your family. Sometimes you have to decide what is more important though....cost or view. I feel like if you are going to vacation at the beach you should be able to at least see the beach from your vacation rental. That is why I will always have to choose something with a view of the ocean. Unfortunately, that means spending more. You will also want to determine how close to the "action" that you want to be. There are many shops and resturants on Tybee Island and many of them are concentrated around the south of the island. The pier and pavillion are the center of activity on Tybee Island. The majority of the events held on Tybee Island are held at the pier and pavillion so that is something to consider, especially if you are going to Tybee for a big event like the Fourth of July fireworks. If you are more of the quiet type and prefer to stay away from the crowds and the shops, then you might prefer any vacation rental on the north side of the island, as it is quieter and away from shops and resturants. Tybee isn't a big island so it's a good idea to look over a map of Tybee to pinpoint the area of the vaction rental that interests you.

Pictures and Descriptions - Pictures and descriptions are of the utmost importance when choosing the right vacation rental for your family. Never, ever, ever agree to rent any place without many pictures and a detailed description of the property. The pictures should show at least 90% of the inside of the vacation rental and I always prefer to see what the view looks like since I'm big on ocean views. The description should never leave you wondering what is available in the rental house or condo. You should be able to find out how many beds, how many bathrooms, how much the rental will cost you, how you can reserve the location, what time check-in and check-out is and any other information that you need to know. Pictures and descriptions can make or break a vacation rental so read everything thoroughly before choosing the right rental for your family.

Which ever vacation rental that you decide upon, the main thing to remember is to have fun. Whether your stay is for a few nights or a few weeks it's the memories that you and your family will make that will matter the most. You may not remember what kind of microwave the rental had or what color the bathroom walls were but you will always remember when you little one lays back on you at the end of the day and says that they have had the best time of their young life.
