Take a look in a mirror and try to determine what shape your face is. Some are round, some square, some oblong and some heart shaped. You can use your sunglasses to offset and compliment your looks.
For a round face try to look for sunglasses that have angles. Round faces tend to look best with square or rectangular sunglasses. If you have a round face, then do not choose round frames, likewise if you head is oval do not choose oval frames If you have an oblong face then try on sunglasses that that are taller more than they are wide. This will help even out your features. A square face looks best with sunglasses that are rounded. Stay away from angles. Look for frames with soft curved to help soften your look.
The next thing you need to figure out is the color of the frames for your sunglasses. Take a look at your complexion and try to determine if your coloring is cooler or if it is warm. The glasses and sunglasses that you choose should try to match your coloring. Your coloring can be determined by looking at your hair color, eye color, and skin complexion. Some of the most popular frames for a warm colored complexion are gold, copper, orange, red and tan. For a cool colored face you should look at frames that are black, purple, wine, magenta, blue and green.
Your sunglasses should protect your eyes from the sun. Ultraviolet light can damage your eyes so you need to be sure that the sunglasses you choose do the best job possible to protect your vision. Make sure you check the UV rating on any pair of sunglasses that you are thinking of buying. Just because the lenses are very dark does not mean they protect better. The UV rating is what you should go by when making your final decision.
If your eyes are especially sensitive to UV rays then you might want to choose a pair of glasses that wrap around your face. This will not only protect your eyes from the rays but also from wind and dust.
Once you find the pair of sunglasses that you like the best then you will need to figure out how you will store them when not in use. You will need a sturdy case to protect them from scratches. Some cases are hard and some are soft sided. See if your glasses come with a case before you invest in buying one. If you will be taking them on and off frequently then consider investing in a chain that holds them around your neck like a necklace. They make them in many different styles and they are relatively inexpensive so you can have a few to match your different outfits.
After you find the sunglasses that you like then you might want to buy more than one pair. You can keep one pair in your car for easy access. Some cars have sunglass compartments to make storing them super easy. Your other pair can be either kept at home or in your pocketbook.
