How to Choose a Wedding Color

The wedding color is supposed to coordinate everything on your wedding so that it will be nice to look at during the wedding and on the photos. If you're still indecisive, these pointers might help you choose your wedding color and relieve a bit of stress on your wedding preparation.

YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH FAVORITES

Every body seems to have a favorite color, so why not try to use that? Ask your partner for his/her favourite color and if your faves don't match up just compromise, or better yet why not choose both (that is, as long as the two colors don't clash)?

TRY YOUR LUCK ON BIRTHSTONES

Birth or month stones can be used in different ways. Either use your birth months and see if you like the stone colors or take the month of your wedding date and use the color of the stone for that month. If neither of the above works for you, then why don't you just choose the color of the stone that attracts your eyes, regardless of what month it represents.

POUR THROUGH BRIDAL MAGAZINES AND WEB SITES

What's good with finding inspiration on somebody else's wedding is that it's more than imagination because you could see the pictures. You would know how the colors will fair behind the lenses and on print.

BE INSPIRED BY THE SEASON

Stop and think: "What season is your big wedding day?" this might inspire you to choose a color that would fit the season. For example, it's a summer wedding then go for bright, summery colors like yellow or tangerine. If it's a spring wedding, hues of green and color of flowers would be your clue.

GO WITH YOUR FLOWER

Coordinating your color scheme includes that of the dress, invitation, cake and flower. So if you have set your heart on using a specific flower even before you could decide on a color scheme then use your chosen flower as an inspiration. You can also opt to pick a different shade of your flower's color.

PULL INSPIRATION FROM THE VENUE

Check out your venue and have a look around. Is there a painting or a carpet or furniture in there whose color appeals to your taste? Or perhaps check out the wall color and choose a hue that will compliment that color. However, never choose a color that is the exact shade as the wall. You wouldn't want your whole entourage to disappear into view when they stand against the wall, would you?
