Try it, it may just work for your child it did mine.
Then when they get a little older make them a check book, a fake one of course, you can print them off on the computer , Or you can get plain note book paper , Cut and write on it like a real check. Have the chore list and the amounts for each extra chore done, Mom is the bank or dad, Keep a note book as a bank and tally all the money up weekly, When your child needs money or wants to buy something , have them write you a check from their check book, give you the check and show them how to take away from what they have and balance their check book. This is a keeper it also teaches them how to save money , how to budget young and plan so when they are older they are good to go.
It worked for three of my four children, I have not done it yet with my 10 year old, but will be trying this with him this summer.
Have fun being the banker while teaching your child to save money and work and save, They really like this it makes them feel important.
