How to Get Christmas Gift Ideas from Your Toddler or Preschooler

Great Ways to Get Christmas Gift Ideas from Young Kids

Are you the parent of a toddler or a preschooler? If you are, have you started your Christmas shopping yet? If this is something that you have yet to do, you will want to continue reading on, especially if you are interested in buying Christmas gifts that you know will be loved and appreciated by your child.

One of the easiest ways to get an idea as to what your toddler or preschooler would like to get as a Christmas gift is by examining store sale fliers with them. In fact, you may receive fliers or books for toys only! These are the best to use. What you will want to do is sit down with your child and grab a crayon or a marker. Have them circle the items inside the advertisements that they think are "neat." By avoiding the words "Christmas," or the phrase "Christmas gifts," you may be able to fly under the radar and still surprise your child on Christmas morning.

In keeping with using Christmas store sale fliers or toy books, you may want to cut out a collection of toy pictures. You may have the best luck selecting those that are ones that your child may love or those that are within your budget. Once you have a collection of cutout toy pictures, you will then want to create a collage with your child. All you need is some construction paper or poster board and a glue stick. When doing this activity, you can ask them what they like about the toy in question. If your toddler or preschooler is anything like mine, they will let you know exactly what they think.

Finally, you may want to take your child browsing with you. As a parent, you may already have a good idea how much kids like to roam around the toy sections. Let your child do so, of course with you right by their side. Most children will bypass any toys or games that do not appeal to them. With an unlimited number of toys at their fingertips, your child likely won't stay with one item too long, but examine their facial expressions, excitement, and listen to what they have to say. Chances are you will get a few great Christmas gift ideas and have fun at the same time.

Of course, you always have the option of just outright asking your child what they want for Christmas this year. With that in mind, it is also important to remember that toddlers and preschoolers often have sharp memories at this stage. Therefore, if you intend for your Christmas gifts to be surprises, you may prefer using some of the above mentioned Christmas gift idea approaches.
