Items Needed to Make a Christmas Lace Angel Ornament
-Lace (different patterns and colors)
-Silver glitter (optional)
-Ribbon (one-fourth to one-half inch wide) (should be same color as lace)
-Craft Glue
-Needle thread
-Spray starch
-Angel figures (size proportionate to lace yo-yos) (need one angel for each ornament) (can be found at craft stores)
-Satin cording (one-fourth inch round) (should be same color as lace or a color to compliment the lace)
Instructions to Make a Christmas Lace Angel Ornament
The lace part of the ornament is constructed by making a fabric yo-yo. See instructions here on how to make a fabric yo-yo. The only variation to the yo-yo instructions is the need to reinforce the lace by attaching the one-fourth inch ribbon to the outer edge of the yo-yo while sewing the gather stitch. It does not matter if this is sewn on the right or wrong side of the fabric as it will be hidden behind the angel.
After you have made the lace yo-yo, pull and fluff the edges to desired shape (the hole should be at the back center of the yo-yo). Spray the front and back of the yo-yo lightly with the spray starch and sparingly sprinkle with silver glitter (this is optional). After the spray starch has dried, glue the angel figure to the center of the yo-yo where the hole is, to cover this area. You may need tuck the lace and ribbon under the angel so that they do not show. Let the ornament completely dry.
Make a loop out of a length of the satin cording by tying a bow at one end. Sew the bow end to the top of the ornament, with the bow on the same side as the angel.
Your Christmas lace angel ornament is now ready to hang on your tree.

When the kids were little, they loved to make lace angels. I still have them and hang them on the tree each Christmas. Of course, they've seen better days :) cheers!
