Planning for a Great Christmas Shopping Trip With Kids
Planning a Christmas shopping trip with kids will be catered to your child or children. Older children can strap a cell phone to their hip and keep themselves busy while mom or dad is doing all the Christmas shopping. The younger child will require a bit more forethought before heading out to the busy stores.
Toddlers can struggle with their normal routines while Christmas shopping with their parents. These normal routines often involve nap time and snack time. Instead of trying to break the routine for one day of shopping, the parent needs to include these times as part of the shopping trip. During snack time, kids love to stop at coffee shops for a small, sweet snack. Nap time can be handled with a few trips around the parking lot. Parents can use this time to wrap the gifts they have purchased instead of waiting until the last minute to wrap.
Babies who are still in diapers need to have nap time, feeding time, diaper time and play time. This may make for a long shopping day, but the choice of shopping venues can help ease the struggle between parent and child.
The Perfect Shopping Venue
While Christmas shopping with kids, parents need to think creatively to make the time as stress free as possible. The toy store is the perfect place to take kids for the day. For the parent who has very few toys on their Christmas list that are not for the kids, a creative gift list can make this stop the only one they will need.
Shopping with kids is hard enough, but what if the time could be spent laughing and smiling? If a parent takes the top 10 people on their list and chooses to buy each of these people a gift from the toy store this year, imagine how much fun shopping could be done with kids. The Christmas gift does not have to be a serious choice. Most of the time, people who choose fun gifts for Christmas tend to have a happier time shopping.
Take a Breath - Or 10
Patience is the most important choice while Christmas shopping with kids. Kids will be anxious, loud and impatient. The parent needs to be the one with all the patience and the forethought to plan ahead for all the bumps along the shopping road.
Christmas shopping with kids can be done without requiring several days of recovery after the trip is complete. Planning is the most important part, the rest will fall into place.
