People who choose to get real pine Christmas trees have to give care and maintenance with the tree to preserve the tree for the holidays.
Purchase the tree on a day you will be able to place it in the tree stand. Once you get the tree home cut the trunk to fit the stand with cutting an angle on the trunk to place in the stand. By cutting the trunk bottom on an angle will give exposure to the tree to the water that is placed in the stand.
Make sure the stand is large enough and sturdy to hold the tree you have picked out. You will want plenty of water in the stand for the tree to feed on this will keep the Christmas tree lasting longer.
Once you have the stand on the tree set the tree up and carefully take the tree indoors. Place the tree out of the sunlight. Sunlight will dry out the pine tree and cause the needles to turn brown and fall off the tree. Place in a cool place away from the fireplace, heating vents and other item that give off heat. The tree should be in a cool place to last.
Turn you heat down some if you have the heat on high. This will help preserve the freshness in the tree with cooler air.
Make sure when placing Christmas tree lights on the tree the wiring on the lights are in excellent shape. Most real pine Christmas trees do not burn because of drying out they burn down due to the wiring in the lights.
Purchase cool lighting Christmas lights for real pine trees. The cool lights do not get warm so this will help protect the tree from drying out. Cool Christmas tree lights can be found at most discount stores and hardware stores.
There are many myth busters out about what to put in the water of a live Christmas tree. Aspirin, sugar, honey, spay with hairspray keeps the needles from falling, vinegar and other treatments. I have found for years the best thing is daily plain cool water in the stand will keep a live tree lasting.
Keeping a live Christmas tree living and fresh is easy with plenty of water, cool place in the home and keep away from heat.
