How to Get Cigarette Coupons

Robert Borden
Cigarettes are getting more and more expensive. Kicking the habit is the absolute best way to save money on cigarettes, but for adults who choose to smoke, coupons from cigarette manufacturers can be a great way to save money on smoking. Many major brands like Marlboro, Camel, and Newport regularly send out coupons to consumers they have identified as adult smokers. These cigarette coupons can be for money off of a single pack (sometimes as high as $2.50 off of one pack of cigarettes), or they can be for multiple pack purchases ($4 off of 4 packs or 1 carton is a common cigarette coupon I see). Because of strict federal laws, however, it can be tricky to get on the mailing list to receive cigarette coupons.

There are a few ways to get on the mailing list of cigarette manufacturers. If you ever see people handing out free cigarettes at a bar, you will be asked to provide your ID in exchange for the free cigarettes. The employee of the cigarette promotion company will take a picture of your ID, ask you a few questions, and you will soon begin receiving cigarette coupons at the address listed on your ID. You can also visit the websites of various cigarette manufacturers like Camel and Marlboro and add yourself to the mailing list. They will require they you send in a photocopy of a valid, government-issued identification before they will send you any coupons. Finally, you can call the toll-free number on your pack of cigarettes or on in-store signage to be added to the cigarette coupon mailing list. Regardless of the method you choose, you can't get out of providing a copy of your ID to get on the mailing list. That's just the way that federal law works.

It is important to note that although the legal age to purchase cigarettes is 18, you cannot receive cigarette coupons if you are under 21. Asking friends and family to sign up for these mailing lists can also be a good way to collect more cigarette coupons. If enough people get together, a cigarette coupon exchange can be implemented where people can trade coupons to get ones for their preferred brand. Cigarette coupons are a great way to cut the cost of your smoking habit. Keep in mind that some gas stations don't take cigarette coupons, but most convenience store chains and grocery stores do.
