Much like how Bahrain strongly controls the entry of foreigners into the country itself, there are tight regulations on citizenship. The government in Bahrain does not want to allow foreigners to compromise the cultural values or Bahrain or to impact society in any sort of manner. As a result most foreigners are never able to gain citizenship rights in Bahrain. There are only two instances in which a foreigner may obtain rights to citizenship in Bahrain and they are not guaranteed ways to citizenship or very likely ways to citizenship.
The most likely way for foreigners to become citizens of Bahrain is by marriage. If you marry someone that is a citizen of Bahrain you may be granted citizenship in Bahrain. This has been the most successful path for foreigners however there is no law in place that guarantees you citizenship rights by marriage. In fact, if you are not Muslim then you may be denied citizenship rights in Bahrain even if you have married someone that has Bahrain citizenship.
There is also the exceptionally rare chance that a ruler of Bahrain grants you citizenship because you have provided outstanding service to the country for a period of time. While this can happen, it is not likely to be the case.
If you have made a major contribution to a company in Bahrain your employer may grant you a residence and work permit of indefinite duration. That would give you the ability to stay in the country for as long as you like. However, upon retirement you may see that privilege rebuked unless your employer is a person of considerable influence in the country.
If you give birth in Bahrain your child will not have the right to citizenship and will automatically assume your nationality. If one of the parents of a child born in Bahrain is a national of Bahrain then the child will be granted local nationality. Later the child may even be granted a national of Bahrain and thus able to get a Bahrain passport.
