How to Clean a Beer Bong

Clean Your Beer Bong Before You Get Tipsy!

A dirty beer bong can stop a night of drunken debauchery dead in its tipsy tracks. Before you embark on your next weekend bender, take a few moments to clean your beer bong. Here's how.

Step 1: Run your beer bong through the dishwasher. This usually takes care of any rank smells or odd tastes. If this doesn't take care of the problem--or you don't own a dishwasher--proceed to the next steps.

Step 2: Find a large metal cooking pot and fill with water. Add at least ΒΌ cup of vinegar to the water. Coil up your beer bong and carefully set it in the pot.

Step 3: Place the cooking pot on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil.

Step 4: Let boil for five minutes. Turn the stove off and let the water cool down.

Step 5: Bring the cooking pot to the sink, dump out the water and remove the beer bong. Let the beer bong completely dry. You now should have a sparkling clean beer bong ready for your next alcohol-centric event.

Other tipsy tips:
If your beer bong has mold growing inside the tube, and the steps above did not remove it all, rinse the bong with hot water. Close both the valves and fill it with hot water and add some salt. Shake it up and set the beer bong aside for at least an hour. After letting it sit, open one valve and pour the mixture out. Rinse with hot water a few times or run it through the dishwasher.

Some people advise cleaning the beer bong with bleach. While this can work, it can permanently discolor your beer bong and give any beer you put in it a funky aftertaste.

If none of this works, consider opening up your pocketbook and purchasing a new beer bong. Always remember to clean your beer bong after every use. Yes, it's probably not at the top of your list after a night of heavy drinking, but a dirty beer bong can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, turning your precious bong into a science fair project. If anything, toss it in the dishwasher before you pass out on the couch!
