It is that time of the year for shaping up and shipping out! It is time for the supreme goal of cleaning and organizing your entire house, from top to bottom.

Shaping up means, you get your home clean and organized. You want everything easy to get to as well as have a plan that can aid you in keeping it looking so nice and homey. Shipping out involves all those items that you have not found useful in quite a while. Get rid of your clutter. Eventually you will have to do it. With this year, just beginning it is the best time to make a schedule and get on with the task of orderly cleaning and organizing.

You will begin by getting rid of anything that is no longer useful to you. Be charitable while parting with those things that you have no real need to keep. If you only keep those things that you will use constantly, it will become so mush easier for you to stay organized continually. This will also make more room for those things you for the items you wish to keep. With everything in its place, cleaning up is a breeze! It is much easier to maintain your clean home when you are organized.

One bad habit that many of us have in common, is allowing the mail to become clutter, this makes it difficult for us to keep a clean house. You will want to have a place to get rid of unnecessary junk mail near the entry of your home to avoid allowing this clutter to get further into your home. Choose a special bin for mail by the entry that you most frequent when taking in your mail. This will be a great aid for quickly placing the mail out of sight as soon as you come in. Doing so will reduce the probability of it getting mixed in with any other items that you place on your kitchen counters or your desktop. You might consider keeping a small trashcan or shredder in this location in order to sift through junk mail quickly, while keeping only those pieces that are essential to you.

Install small shelves and hooks for placing those things that you carry with you while entering your home. Small shelves are wonderful for stashing your spare change, keys, wallet or cell phone when you enter your home. If you store your phone charger there, you will be ready to leave your home on a moments notice. Shoe bins and coat hangers help you to control heaps of clutter that does occur when you come home. Consider wooden hangers that can help keep this area looking tidy and uncluttered.

Laundry can easily pile up; therefore scheduling a particular time for doing the laundry can be a good habit to develop. Do this by washing one small load before you leave in the mornings and then dry them after your arrival in the evening. You can then fold it and put it away before retiring for the night. Perhaps you only need to attend to the laundry on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can avoid having particular chores for piling up on you by making a habit of doing them at specific times.

Certain chores may not need attention on a daily basis; however, they do deserve the proper attention. Keep a cleaning schedule calendar, while including such chores as dusting such items as the ceiling fan blades and light fixtures, steam cleaning your carpets and cleaning your oven and microwave. Once you have your home organized, diligently work to keep it looking its best.
