Micro fiber is an extremely popular choice in fabric for furniture for such things as sofas and chairs. Micro fiber is very soft and said to be water resistant. Also, it will not absorb most spills and stains. However, there are exceptions to that claim. It is important to know how to clean micro fiber furniture fabric the correct way. This can make all the difference in keeping your furniture looking great.
Micro fiber furniture is said to be sturdy, reliable and resistant to stains. Nonetheless, stains can still happen and it is important to clean this type of fabric correctly. Some micro fiber furniture will have tags attached to them with letter codes. These letters will determine the route of care for your furniture. The codes are W, S, and S-W. The "W" means that any water based cleaning solutions can be used to clean fabric. "S" represents solvent-based cleaning solutions and means they can only be used while "S-W" stands for either water or solvent based, meaning both are acceptable for cleaning the fabric. However, if there are no letter codes, you can contact the manufacturer and attain cleaning instructions on what can be used to clean your fabric. There may be specialized cleaning products made just for your type of micro fiber material. The manufacturer can tell you this information.
Also, if there are no instructions available on how to clean micro fiber furniture, there are a few things you could do to help preserve your fabric. Using a strong suctioned vacuum cleaner with an upholster attachment will help remove dirt and dander. This can be done weekly or bi-weekly to keep your micro fiber furniture looking its best. Any spills should be cleaned up as soon as it happens to prevent any of it soaking into the material. Use a paper towel or soft cloth and gently blot the area of the spill, never scrubbing as this can ruin the fabric. If a stain is made, you can use a very small amount of mild soap, remembering to lightly blot the surface.
This fabric is enduring and lavishly comfortable but should be attended to in the proper way. With careful consideration and meticulous care, you can make the appearance of your micro fiber furniture last for many years to come.
