How to Clean Your Microwave with Only Water

You can clean your microwave with only water and save your arm the pain of scrubbing for hours. Baked on food particles inside your microwave seem almost impossible to remove, but with a little help from steam, you can clean it quickly. Microwave ovens can become soiled with just one use.

Use a Clean Dry Cloth to Clean Your Microwave

Use a clean dry 100% cotton cloth. Do not use a dirty rag, a towel that has grease, gas or oil on it, or paper or other material. Do not use a rag or cloth that has a bad smell or strong odor of any type.

Soak the Clean Dry Cloth In Water to Clean Your Microwave

Soak the clean dry cloth in a bowl of water so that the towel is completely submerged. Take it out of the bowl and ring it out slightly. You will want the towel to be very wet.

Heat the Wet Clean Cloth to Clean Your Microwave

Place the wet towel in the center of your microwave and turn it on for four minutes. When it is finished, allow it to cool for about ten minutes before you touch it. Leave the microwave door closed during this time. Be careful, the rag will be hot, steamy and wet.

Wipe Up the Inside Of Your Microwave

Use the hot, wet rag to wipe up the inside of your microwave. The inside of the microwave will be steamy and moist, loosening up the baked on food that is inside. The combination of the hot, wet rag and the steamy inside of the microwave will make clean up a breeze.

Your microwave will be clean, free from debris and not polluted with chemicals. You can also heat up another clean dry rag soaked in water to clean other household items, counter tops, sinks and tubs. Hot steam is a great cleaner and no chemicals are needed. Be careful when you are handling the hot rag, you may want to wear cleaning gloves or mittens because of the hot steam.

Clean the inside of your microwave often to keep it looking and smelling good. To avoid getting stuck on food in the first place, try to cover all bowls and dishes with a paper towel while you are using the microwave. The paper towel will prevent food from being splattered around your microwave, but it can also be easily thrown away after use.

This sounds very effective and ecologically wise. I hate spraying any cleanser into the microwave. I try to wipe it out as I use it but sometimes I am in a hurry and do not. This method would definitely loosen up any residue. And a clean, moist towel would be right there to use to wipe out the oven. Thanks for the tip.
