GK
Cleaning sterling silver is important step to the care of the sliver. Once a person notice tarnish building up on the sliver or has an item that needs cleaning, this is time to get out the items to start cleaning. Remember it only takes a little time to clean an item.

One of the fastest ways to clean sterling silver at home is purchasing a cleaner for the silver. Cleaners are fairly inexpensive and ready to use. Take a soft cloth, place small amount of cleaner on the cloth and rub in till the shine comes back with out streaking. When doing jewelry do not dip the jewelry in a solution as some gems and stones could get ruined. This is a good way for light tarnish on sterling silver.

Another chemical is Tarnax. Tarnax is a strong chemical and not recommend placing any jewelry at all in the solution or any sterling silver that would have any other metals or decor on the item. Tarnax is used for tarnish that is blackening in color. Again use gloves, soft cloth with placing a small amount at a time of the chemical and rubbing in the sliver. When tarnish turns black a person might have to use several rags and clean the item a couple of times to get the shine back on the sliver.

Sterling silver jewelry with stones and gems looking good is use whiting toothpaste and an old tooth brush. Place toothpaste on the toothbrush place under warm running water for a second. Then lightly brush the jewelry with the brush spreading the tooth paste around till it is bubbly. Wait a few minutes and lightly brush the jewelry with the toothbrush. With heavy tarnish a person might have to brush longer or repeat the steps. Once done rinse and dry.

Sterling sliver cloth can be used quick and easy. Purchase a sterling sliver cloth, open the package and start cleaning the sterling sliver. It is easy as one, two, and three with the sterling silver cloth. Using a sterling silver cloth around stones and gems can improve the looks of the silver with out destroying the stones or gems.

Remember to keep tarnish from building up on sterling silver. Keeping the sterling slivers from air exposure for prolong times will keep the sterling silver from tarnishing. Taking quality care with sterling silver items will preserve longer.

My restaurant also has used Silvermate for many years and it is a non hazardous liquid that cleans and polishes all of our silver flatware in very little time. Highly Recommended!

You need to just try a liquid silver cleaner called Silvermate. It is non-toxic and only takes about 20 seconds to clean and polish sterling silver.
