Flossing your teeth is one of the best alternatives to brushing your teeth. A floss dispenser does not take up a lot of space and can easily be stored in a purse, a travel bag, in the car, in a desk at work, or even in a coat pocket. Another option is to carry a few flossers (floss pick) around instead of a whole floss dispenser. Flossers can easily be put in a pocket when you leave the house in the morning. Flossing your teeth will help to remove food particles and plaque from between the teeth and gum lines and can help prevent gum disease.
If you find that you don't have a toothbrush with you after eating, then your next best bet to rid your mouth of bacteria and food particles is to rinse it out with water. This helps to at least remove some of the food particles and bacteria that may be sitting on your teeth after your meal. Simply find a bathroom where you can rinse with water or carry a bottle of water with you and find a place where you can rinse in private. While rinsing you can also use your finger and rub it gently along the gum line to get rid of stuck-on particles as well.
There is a relatively new product called Floss and Wipe. It is a soft cloth that cleans your teeth that also has a built-in piece of dental floss right on it. This is a great option to carry with you instead of a toothbrush and floss. They are individually wrapped so that you can throw a couple of them into a purse or pocket and have them handy after a meal or snack. They are also safe for children as well which may come in handy if your child makes a mess while eating something sticky or gummy. You can purchase Floss and Wipe from

Lastly, you can also look for teeth cleaning wipes to carry with. There several different products that are geared toward babies and toddlers, but they can also be used by adults who want to clean their teeth and don't have a toothbrush. There is also a product by Oral B called Brush Ups which are a textured cloth that you slip over your finger and use to brush your teeth. No water or toothpaste is needed and they have a mint flavor to freshen your breath as well. These types of teeth cleaning wipes are another option to clean your teeth without a toothbrush.
Although, brushing your teeth after every meal and snack is the best practice to follow, it can be hard when you are on-the-go and don't have a toothbrush. Fortunately, there are alternatives that can be used every once in awhile to keep your teeth clean and healthy.
