How to Clean a Virus Infected Pc in 7 Easy Steps

Many virus can be troubling. Users find themselves in this position because they pay for their anti virus software and they think all is well. Or their anit virus
software "catches" the virus and again they think all is well.

One way to really determine or atleast give you an indication is to disconnect from the internet scan again. Hard to get rid of virus/Trojan/Spyware will keep reappearing in concurant scans. These are the mean ones we will be trying to get rid of here. I'm going to shorten the steps it takes, but there may be additional steps on your part. I guess we can call these sub steps and will be in a final step.

Please take note that the time this takes will be dependant upon how long your antivirus scanner takes to scan your entire drives.

Now before we get started. I'd like to tell you that rarely can one scanner do it all. I on occasion use up to 4 scanners. Here is a short list that I personally use.

You may use what you have, but if you find it difficult to clean, you may want to try my recommendations.
#1 AVG Free (search on google)
#2 www.superantispyware.com
#3
www.malwarebytes.com

step 1 Scan with superantispyware or malwarebytes spyware scanners.

step 2 Turn off system restore >control panel> system > system restore
This prevents many viri from being able to come back.

step 3 Restart your computer into safemode use (F5 or F8) keys depending on which OS you are running.

step 4 Update your software, your anti virus and spyware scanners. Many scanners will not load new updates after booting to safe mode. Make sure you try to update again.

step 5 Immediately after updating software, disconnect from the internet. The best way is to remove the ethernet cable directly from behind the computer if you are broadband subscriber. (This will prevent the virus from maintaing any connection it has and stop re-infection.

step 6 Scan using your updated software. One program at a time, And dont forget to scan the entire drive. Use thorough mode. Not quick.

step 7 At this point your system should be relatively clean. But I recommend using a service called housecall. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ It is free, and scans your system from their servers.

Very rarely will you have to repeat, but the only way to be sure is to repeat the above steps untill there is no sign of infection. Bookmark this site for offline use. Just incase the virus you have will not let you connect. Cheers and Happy Surfing!
