How I Cleaned Out My Skin Care Drawer with Rodan + Fields

Do you have a drawer full of skin care products you never use? Are you a skeptic who thinks it is all mostly snake oil which may feel nice on your skin but it doesn't really DO anything? If the answer is "YES!" I can relate. I thought skin care products were close to being a scam (with the exception of exfoliants which actually do help skin turnover but which can also damage and irritate skin) until I discovered Rodan + Fields Dermatologists.

Why We Get Rid of Skin Care Products

Are you tired of trying the latest thing in skin care from department stores and drug stores only to toss it in a drawer after a couple of weeks? The two main reasons we put our skin care products in a drawer or throw them away are:

Get ready for some amazing news from a former skin care skeptic. I have found some products from Rodan + Fields that really work, and I will be sharing my personal stories and before and after photos here. If you have read many of my articles here on the Yahoo Contributor Network, you know I am blunt, straight forward and not given to hyperbole in my writing. So when I say I am excited about something, you can pretty well bet I am excited about something!

Over-the-Counter Skin Care

Part of my background since college has been in skin care. Even before I started selling Avon, I experimented with cosmetics and skin care like all teen girls do, making my way through Bonne Bell, Noxema, Revlon, and Maybelline. However, when I started selling Avon, I began to test various products in ernest, both in the Avon line and from Castner Knott, where I worked at the time, and over-the-counter at SuperX and other drugstores of the day.

It didn't take me long to figure out they smelled nice and lubricated the skin, but they didn't do much else. Once I washed off the lotion, my skin or lips were soon as dry as they were before. The lotion may have made a temporary difference, but it didn't improve my skin. I became a skin care skeptic, and I stopped even using lotion on my skin. I used regular soap to bathe and a mild bar or cleanser on my face -- for decades -- and my skin remained as nice as anyone who was putting goo on their arms and face until I developed skin cancer.

Department Store Skin Care

At that time, I worked in the cosmetics department at Macy's and this time I was testing some of the finest skincare lines: Clinique, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Elizabeth Arden, StriVectin and others. Everything but the Clinique mild facial bar irritated the rosacea I was developing, and none of my customers ever looked any different -- certainly not younger -- after using the products I was selling them.

Rodan + Fields Skin Care

I have written a couple of articles already about Rodan + Fields and their new products and technologies, but because of my own problems with rosacea (which arrived after treating my face for skin cancer) I have been unable to use some of them on myself, and others I moved into slowly. However, as Rodan + Fields has released more products for the problems of aging skin, I have been able to try more of them. Some that I couldn't use on my face, I have used on my neck for several months -- long enough to state unequivocally that the products I have used so far work -- work to the point of changing the texture, shape and natural moisture in my lips and work in redefining the shape of my neck and chin.

My Astonishing Results

The results I have achieved have astonished me, and I don't astonish easily. While I can't say "I am ever so much more beautiful than before," I can say my lips look like they did in college and I now have more chin than I did in college.
