How to Close a MySpace Account

Malcolm Tatum
If you've decided that you don't need your MySpace account any longer, the best thing to do is close the account. However, since the upgrades to the pages on MySpace, you may find it somewhat confusing to get all the way through the process. Here's a step by step approach that will help you navigate through what seems to be an endless process.

Step 1

Go to MySpace and log into your account. Once you are logged in, go to the Home page.

Step 2

Click on "My Account", which is located on the right hand side of the page. This will take you to a page with a header of "Account Settings".

Step 3

Click on "Account"; once the page fulfills, scroll to the bottom of the page to the Account Cancellation section, and click on the "Cancel Account" icon. This will take you to the Account Cancellation page.

Step 4

On the Account Cancellation page, select one of the reasons listed for canceling your account, then click on the "Cancel My Account" icon. This will bring up a dialogue box; move around the box by clicking "No Thanks", and then wait for the Confirm Account Cancellation page to load.

Step 5

Scroll to the bottom of the Confirm Account Cancellation and click the "Cancel My Account" icon. MySpace will send an email you can use to confirm your cancellation.

Step 6

Check your inbox for the email from MySpace. Open the email and click on the link embedded in the body of the email. This will open a new browser page that takes you back to MySpace and another cancellation page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Cancel My Account" once again.

Tips and Warnings

The cancellation process for MySpace is not the most user-friendly, but keep your composure and follow the process all the way to the end. Remember that MySpace may take up to forty-eight hours after you finish the cancellation process before your profile is actually deleted from the site.
