These types of people have a unique gift. Often it's called the gift of gab. They can talk about anything and make you believe everything. Whether it's buying a house or a car, a really good sales person will take you through the complete process from just looking to signing the papers. Here's just a few of their tips and advice on how to get a sale and how to close it as quickly as you can.
First, always remember, there's no such thing as an "I'm just looking" customer. If he or she is looking, then they are a potential customer. After all, they wouldn't be looking if they weren't thinking about buying. Even if it's in the future, they're thinking about it. Your job is to make the future happen now. A tool that is used a lot is the interest rate. If it's low, then the customer should buy before it goes up. If it's high, they should buy before it goes higher. Simple. Buy now, before it costs you more.
Another uh, should I say ploy? used to get people to buy is the "If you wait till tomorrow, I can't guarantee it will still be here. I have another offer on it." That's a classic case of "you snooze, you loose" technique. And it works often, because people don't like the idea of someone buying it out from under them. They agree to buy and then get that little devil on their shoulder look, grinning and saying "Ha ha! I beat you!"
A smart sales person knows that as soon as you've got the "Well, I don't know, maybe" then it's time to move on to the closing. A good sales person keeps their customer waiting as little time as possible. And while the paper work is being done, the sales person congratulates them on their wise decision and pours on the great attributes of whatever is being purchased. A really good sales person is one who moves the closing process through as swiftly and effortless for the purchaser as possible. This is the type of sales person that you will recommend to your friends. "Oh, go see Joe Smith. He'll take care of everything." And that's just what a really smart sales person is aiming for.
