The first thing to consider is your favorite types of design. Do you enjoy rustic or abstract items? While a rooster themed kitchen may seem like it is only fit for a country style theme, you're wrong. If you take a look at thrift stores and sites such as eBay you will find that there are many different designs and patterns when it comes to rooster kitchen items. You can find rustic roosters, abstract roosters, and even elegant roosters which make great collectible items to display in your kitchen.
Another idea to consider is whether or not you want unique rooster kitchen items or mass produced items commonly found in people's homes. While the more common mass produced rooster items are easier to find they may not appeal to someone who is looking for something "special". Unique rooster kitchen items may be harder to find but are well worth the hunt. Of course not all mass produced common items are unattractive. You can certainly mix together store bought rooster items with thrift store, antique, or vintage rooster items in your kitchen. If you want to do so you should try to at least stick within a theme or go for a wide ranged eclectic look. Common items are also likely to cost less and may be the better option for those on a tight budget. Harder to find items may cost a pretty penny so make sure you are buying something you really love and always give them a good look over for any damage that may not be readily apparent.
What is your budget? Is it low? Is it high? This can help you determine which items to go after. Some items such as rooster salt and pepper shakers and replica rooster tin wall hangings would be great for collectors who are on a tighter budget. However you do not necessarily have limited options when it comes to purchasing rooster collectibles for your kitchen. Thrift stores and yard sales are great places to look for a bargain. However keep in mind that highly collectible items may be out of your price range. So you will have to decide whether to purchase that vintage bread box for a hundred dollars or go for several types of rooster salt and pepper shakers for a much lower price. Keep in mind that not all rooster salt and pepper shakers are alike. The more collectible they are the higher the price. So if you are looking for unique rooster items you are likely to pay a higher price. It is all a matter of quality vs. quantity in the end.
Am I getting a good deal? When searching for collectible rooster items for your kitchen you may see something you like but wonder if the price is really worth it. My suggestion would be to look through completed listings on eBay before venturing out. You will likely find other websites which can help identify and appraise the value of rooster kitchen items but the prices may not be realistic. When you do your research you are less likely to be scammed and you also arm yourself with a great bargaining tool, knowledge. While it may not be possible to find each and every rooster kitchen item available on eBay you should find a great selection and can always compare rooster kitchen items which appear alike to help guesstimate a price. Keep in mind though that marked names can easily drive up the price of an item so not all rooster items are comparable to others.
How do you want to collect? Do you want to collect based on a color scheme, signed pieces, a certain style, or maybe a certain type of rooster kitchen item? How you collect should be based solely on your preferences. You could for instance collect only rooster candy jars which can be a great idea for those with a sweet tooth. Or you could collect roosters which have the color yellow, red, and/or blue on them. Maybe you only want certain signed pieces such as a popular collectible brand Metlox.
When it comes to collecting roosters you should remember one rule, have fun. I always get excited whenever I find a new piece to add to my ever growing collection of rooster items for my kitchen and I am sure you will too. Remember to only buy pieces you love, stick with a design scheme you love, and do your research so you have a bargaining aid. Have fun collecting those roosters and remember, you can never have enough roosters in the kitchen.
