How College Students Can Make $250 a Month Writing for Associated Content

Daniel Rein
I am a frequent Associated Content producer and very often I scan the discussion boards to read viewers' comments. I had read that a part time worker was averaging close to $200 a month and some people were amazed that the person made that much money. Well I have some information that I am rather proud to share with you. I am a full time student at Binghamton University in New York and I average $250 a month. I take 14 hours worth of classes per week which is four classes during the week. I get daily assignments for homework, textbook readings, exams, 15 page research papers and other things to do for each class. I hold a part time job ten hours of the week to help pay for my college tuition that I have taken out loans for. And I am involved in several clubs on my campus of which I am on the executive board for two of them. I am involved in a political organization, a religious organization, a fraternity council and I am a member of a fraternity. And I write for Associated Content. My friends and family members are in awe at how I do it. Sometimes I have to invent extra hours in a 24 hour day just to get some sleep! But seriously folks, here are my secrets at how I do it.

First set an agenda for yourself. What is your targeted goal? How much money are you hoping to make each week or month? After you determine this amount, calculate your average amount of money that Associated Content pays you per article and divide that by the total amount of money that you are hoping to make in a month. This calculation will tell you how many articles you need to write in a month. Next divide the amount of articles by the total amount of days in a month- take the number 30, and divide. This will tell you how many articles you need to write in a day or in a period of days. Make sure that you keep to this schedule.

If you find that you are busy during the day, keep to your schedule. If you have a job with a lunch break, cut it short at lunch to go back to your computer to write an article for Associated Content. When you get home, write another article. A great tip that I have used is if you are on a train or bus or car, write an article on scratch paper to jot down your thoughts. This will save you time on brainstorming for the idea to write about.

Third, bring a pad and a pen with you wherever you go and constantly think about things to write about. If you are watching a basketball game, write about your favorite team and your thoughts on them. Fellow writers will share common interests as you since there are thousands of content producers and viewers.

Before you go to bed, take the time to complete one full article. Your sleep will be shortened by a half an hour but it will be worth it and you won't feel the effects of lost sleep.

When using pictures for your articles, put the pictures in for several articles at the same time. If you use a camera to do your pictures, take pictures of several things at once that relate to your topic.

Another great money making tip is to save everything that you write on your computer. You will be surprised to find out that most of the stuff you save to a writing document on your computer can be submitted to Associated Content to make money. As a college student I have submitted numerous college papers and homework assignments that I have written and the cash really starts to add up.

My final tip is to put in a lot of hours on weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays most people sleep late. Instead, get up early, grab a cup of coffee and start writing.

These tips and ideas are sure to help. If I can make a lot of money writing articles with a full time job, several clubs and four classes as a college student, you can too!

I really liked this. I am going to be taking 16 credit hours, playing baseball, and working on the school newspaper. I would really like to be able to make some money writing articles for AC.

  • Great article, Daniel! I found the link in one of 1/24/2007

LOL I have seen you shamelessly promote this article all over the forums, so I had to check it out. Not bad. I will point out an easy way to make even more than $250/month: simply write 2 articles every day. I average about $8 per article, so doing that will give me $480/month (based on 60 articles). AC is definitely great for college students.

Busy, busy, busy. I don't know how you do it. I'm impressed, but I still think you're cheating. You have to be some sort of wizard to do so much with so little time. ...and that's just not fair to us humans. Just playin'. Good article. Great tips. Thanks.

Thanks this is very helpful. It sounds like there is no limit on how much that you can make right? Just depends on how much you can write and turn in,,,

Jonathan- AC does edit articles and i make sure to spell and proofread each article. AC rejects articles that are nto coherent. THis article clearly isnt and i got a relatively high bid from AC for the article. If you look at article for the sole purpose of looking for errors, I'm sure you will find them. But if you read an article for content and information, it will be a more enjoyable reading and learning experience. Thank you everyone who has posted comments on this article. Feel free to read my other articles as well.

These are great, but the grammar is not. There are several errors which would never have passed an editor's eye, so it is also important to proof-read your submission. It is apparent that Associated Content does not edit articles that are submitted.
