How College Students Can Make Money from Having a Lot of Email Contacts This Holiday Season

Idalia Benavides
Email marketing is one of the easiest ways to get potential customers to your site, and as a college student you most likely have a whole lot of people that you can send email to right? Well this holiday season its time to take advantage of that and make some money. The steps to making money this holiday season by sending email are easy; there will be no investment on your part except a little time, effort, and patience.

Complete Steps:

1. Get an email address that you will use for your project.
Note: Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and Google all offer free email addresses that you can use instantly.

2. Sign up for a free website or a blog.
Note: You can get a free website at http://www.freewebs.com, http://www.bravehost.com, http://www.geocities.com, http://www.wordpress.com, http://www.blogger.com.

3. Add content or links that your peers will be interested in.

4. Sign up for an affiliate program or for an affiliate network to find different advertisers instantly there.

5. Find the best affiliates to work with.

6. Get the link/banner codes and put them on a prime spot on your site; also keep a copy of them to place them in your email newsletters.

7. Create an email newsletter where you personally talk about the affiliate that you're promoting; don't forget to also place interesting content for your readers.

8. Before sending it out to all of your contacts make sure to alter the look and feel of it; make sure it looks like you're offering a holiday special.
Note: If you don't know how to send out email newsletters consider joining a free service that allows you to do this easily and quickly. The service that http://www.constantcontact.com offers is great for this.

Now that you know that you can be making the big bucks this holiday season even as a student and without having to invest money or put a lot of effort into it, go do it! It's not hard to get people to your site at all you'll see.

If you find that you do not have enough people clicking on your email links you can always use Facebook to send out messages to your friends or to people in the groups that you belong to. You can also use MySpace to promote your site and buttons; you can even make a html code for your add, link it to your page and then post it as a comment on people's pages. Should all of this fail, you should try other promoting strategies such as putting flyers up around the dorms or in student hangouts, you can set up a table in one of the most crowded buildings and have people sign up there using your laptop, and other things like that. Don't' forget to build up your list and always try to get more email addresses from people interested in holiday offers.

Tip: Some of the advertisers that you want to become affiliates of are: Half.com, Amazon.com, Ebay.com, and PayPal.com. These are all companies that students like to use and that they trust; that will make them not so leery of your offers. Note: You can join these affiliate programs by going to their websites or by joining the Commission Junctions Affiliate Network at http://www.cj.com.

Affiliates are great, one thing not mentioned though is that you can also save money by making purchases through yourself if the affiliate allows it (getting 10-20% back from Amazon is nice!). Just make sure its not against the affiliate rules.
