How to Come Up with New Content Ideas Using Highly Searched Terms

DannyNoSleeves
I know how hard it is to come up with new content ideas everyday. Some people keep notes, others use the weekly newsletter, and some people just seem to have ideas spilling out their ears.

While I tend to have a lot of ideas I'm not the kind of person that gets them without trying. I wanted to share some of my techniques for not only coming up with content ideas, but how to find and be up to date with the most searched things on the internet.

Content Ideas - Newsletters

Newsletters are a great way to get ideas for content. One reason they are a great source of content is because you will get new ahead of time which will lead to better offers from Associated Content. Another reason newsletters are great ideas for content is because odds are that all the other people who get that newsletter are going to start searching for things in that newsletter. So if you write some content about what you read in the newsletter you should get some good page views.

When signing up for newsletters there is no need to sign up for every newsletter you see. That will just fill up your inbox and odds are you won't read any of them. I usually just sign up for news letters for things I know get searched a lot, but that I'm not usually checking up on.

For example, I don't check the Apple website everyday, but I know a lot of Apple stuff gets searched on the internet. So I sign up for the newsletter so that even though I don't frequent the site I can still have the heads up on what's going on so that I can provide quality and timely content.

It is also helpful to maybe open an email account just for newsletters. That way you aren't tempted to just delete them without reading them. Some email clients even let you direct mail from certain addresses into a certain folder. This way you can setup a folder for newsletters. If you make an account and folder for just newsletter you will be more inclined to actually read them because you will have to go out of your way to read them or delete them.

Content - Newsfeeds

These are like news letters but better. News feeds for most sites get updated daily. This means you don't have to wait for your weekly newsletter to find out what's going on.

The catch to these is that you have to check daily. The good news is most email clients have a section where you can insert RSS feeds and read them like email. Websites like Yahoo and MSN will even let them add them to your personal page. If you make that your computers home page then you are set to get breaking news every time you log in.

Another way to keep up with newsfeeds is to use Mozilla. Mozilla supports what they call live bookmarks. What this means is you can bookmark a RSS feed page into your tool bar. That bookmark is then constantly updated, so you can simply click that bookmark to see what's new.

Content - Technorati

Technorati is a great website for content producers for a number of reasons. The first reason is right on the home page. On the left hand side of the screen you will see the top six searches. There is six content ideas right there! On the other side of the screen you will see the most popular tags. Can you say a list of awesome keywords?

So say you found something to write about from the top searches, but don't know anything about it? Not a problem. You have a world of blogs a click away who have already written about. Read through some of their blogs to learn more.
