How to Complain to Your Mail and Shipping Carrier

Cheryl Myers
Do you have a complaint from a mail and shipping carrier and don't know what to do? Every mail or shipping service has its benefits and faults. Unfortunately, the complaints are rising for mail and shipping services. What is there to do?

If you shop online frequently, search for the company's shipping and return policies. See if they have choices for mailing options and if they do, or will make accommodations, then it would be best ordering from that company in the future. If the company will refuse to ship via the method or shipping service that you want, refuse to buy from that company until the policy changes. Some companies partner with shipping services to get discounted shipping and insurance. Oftentimes, they cannot or will not ship any other method.

The USPS has known to lose many packages and those packages are not insured. With other services, insurance is automatic. The overwhelming complaints about the USPS are at an all time high. The USPS is a business, although the If we can overlook the delays, missing or damaged packages, and customer service; it is still the cheapest method to mail a simple letter.

I signed up for the Amazon Prime and they ship via UPS. Unfortunately, I live in a condominium building and we have a community mailroom, where UPS drops the packages off. Instead of delivering to the specific unit, UPS drops the package off in the community mailroom. This can cause chaos if the package is missing in the mailroom. The benefit of mailing with UPS, assures us the replacement of damaged or missing packages. In addition, the tracking information is available online.

I have witnessed a DHL mail carrier I had to go to the local DHL location because the driver missed me at home and I needed the package. As I spoke to a clerk at the location, a DHL carrier slam a package down on the counter, apparently made at a customer or other issue. The carrier does not know what is in the package or the sensitivity of the materials. It is as if the carrier is only concerned with his paycheck, and not give a care in the world about the recipient's items.

I have never had an issue with FedEx. In fact, when the carrier just missed me at my home, I called FedEx and they informed the driver. In less than an hour, I had my package. The downfall for this service is the high cost of their mailing service. In comparison to the other mailing and shipping services, it may be worth the price.

Each mail and shipping carrier has contact links on their websites. Email the complaint to the mail or shipping service providers. It may not hurt to send a compliment, if one should come along.

Here is a great reference link to look into for shipping options. It is a fast way to evaluate shipping rates, services, and timeframes for delivery. With these kinds of services popping up, it is imperative for the companies to care about customer concerns and improve their services.

UPS made me wait for 1.5 hrs for nothing and driver refused to deliver!!!

I just want to share another complaint toward the infamous UPS.ca.

I ordered a mattress from COSTCO.ca, which unfortunately it would be delivered by UPS.ca. Firstly, they were at my building but refused to deliver because my name is not on building directory even the entry code was provided. (found it out later online) Not a problem, I called them back on early Wednesday to update it and was told it would be delivered for Thursday.

On Thursday morning, I saw there was no update on its site and I called them to confirm if it is being out of deliver. The rep told me that they would have the depot to call me back in an hour. I waited and waited, and finally got a called back after 7 hours later (almost 6pm). The depot told me that she wasn’t sure where my mattress is… (oh well, things happened and wasted my whole day) They promised me it would be delivered tomorrow for sure.

    Friday morning, still no upda

I have seen the same thing. Mail carriers just don't care anymore. Customer service is bad everywhere these days.
