How to Completely Remove the Microsoft Office 2007 Trial

Though you can usually use the built in uninstaller of the Microsoft Office 2007 trial to uninstall the program, there have been numerous cases of the program not uninstalling correctly. If you do not fully uninstall the Office 2007 trial, you cannot install the full version of the program. There are three different methods for uninstalling the Office 2007 trial, all available for free.

Microsoft Fix It

Microsoft is fully aware of the error messages you may receive when trying to uninstall the Microsoft Office 2007 trial through Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features. They have released a Fix It solution, which removes the program for you, including registry files.

Press the Fix It button on the Microsoft site to download the file. Double click it to start the uninstaller. The program does not require any input from the user. Do not run any other applications while the program is running. This may cause it not to work properly. The application is DOS based. Once the uninstall is complete, the program will notify you. For best results, restart your computer to clear your system.

Rip Out Office 2007

From Refuse to Suffer, you can download Rip Out Office 2007. Look for Remove Office 2007 to download the latest version of the software. Download the file and double-click it to start the removal process. Rip Out Office 2007 does not install anything on your system. Press Go to begin removing the Office 2007 trial. Within a few minutes, you computer will be automatically restarted. Be sure to close all open programs and files to prevent losing any data.

When your computer restarts, press Run to continue running Rip Out Office 2007. Follow the remaining prompts to remove the application, registry entries and left over files. The entire process takes around 10 minutes.

IOBit Uninstaller

IOBit Uninstaller isn't just for the Microsoft Office 2007 trial, but it works extremely well for removing the troublesome software. Download and install IOBit Uninstaller. Installing only brings up a list of installed programs, you do not actually install anything on your system. Scroll down the list until you see Microsoft Office 2007 Trial. Check the box next to it. Press Uninstall at the top of the IOBit Uninstaller screen. Follow the prompts to uninstall. Each step requires the user to press Next, such as removing extra files left behind and deleting registry entries. You do have the option of leaving registry files and even backing up the registry before continuing. Before uninstalling, a system restore point is created automatically.

Considerations

Keep in mind that these methods are not meant to uninstall the Microsoft Office 2007 trial simply to reinstall it. Your system still contains the file that states the trial was already installed and has expired. You will be able to install the trial again, but it will only work in reduced functionality mode until you purchase the full version. However, if you want to install new version or have problems activating to the full version, you must completely remove the Microsoft Office 2007 trial first.
