Using your computer as your television is a relatively new concept and not everyone is aware of this. You can save yourself an enormous amount of money by getting rid of that hefty cable or satellite TV bill, and watch your television through your internet source, which you're already paying for by the way.
The fact that you can actually lose your cable bill or satellite TV bill, for many, is a huge relief, as this is one of the largest reoccurring bills every month. Not only are there more channels to watch but you can watch programs from foreign countries.
If you happen to be living overseas, this is a great reason to get television through your computer. You can watch all the programs you left behind and in your native language. This is also a great concept for people who love to watch sports from a different country, which may not be possible to watch in the country you are residing in. For example, I love to watch European soccer and I don't have satellite TV, which is about the only way for me to be able to watch. Now with television running through my internet, I can watch soccer from England, Italy, South America, and more.
The portability of this form of television is wonderful. If you have a laptop, you basically have a television that will go with you anywhere you have internet capability. In addition, if you have a laptop that has the ability to watch DVD's, then you pretty much have a complete entertainment system that can be taken on the go.
This sort of feature is a great present for college kids. In some dorms the rooms are already set up with the internet. It is just up to the kids to plug in. Just one more way to keep the expenses down while your child is away at college.
