This little trick is for users with more then 256 megabytes worth of ram in there computer so if you are using anything under that minimum amount you will have to skip this section and go to the next one. If you don't have more then 256 megabytes of ram then you will have to skip this part and move on to the next one as trying to use these technique with less ram will more than likely not work the way it was intended. I have not personally tried this one out since I don't have much ram, but I hear this really increases the performance of your computer by using up every byte of memory and when that happens it switches over to your swap file memory. In case you don't know what swapfile is allow me to explain it to you. Swapfile is a file that is located on your hard drive as a storage to temporary store information that is not currently being used by your ram (memory). What makes this so great is that it allows you to have more memory then is installed on your computer which can come in handy depending on certain situations. One of the downsides is that swapfile is slower then physical memory , but since you get free memory it's still good. Another downside is that if your hard drive is extremely full then you may start to see a decrease in speed because there will be less space to fit in swapfile memory since your hard drive is really full. Before continuing I recommend that you create a system restore point as always just in case so you can easily change these settings without having to go through all the steps again.
1.)Click on start and then click on run
2.)In this box type msconfig and then click ok
3.)The system configuration utility window will pop up and from here click on the SYSTEM.INI tab
4.)Look for the text called 386enh and click on the +(plus) sign on the left hand side to expand it.
5.)Now click on new on the right hand side of this window and type the following information inside the blank area: ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
6.)Accept the change by clicking on the ok button and finally restart your computer
Now when your computer starts up you should see dramatic changes in your computer's speed.
