By using these next tricks your computer will respond to shutting down faster with less delay than it was when set with the default settings. It can get irritating when you want to shut down your computer and it's takes forever just for it to begin the process. By modifying the registry files you can change the amount of time when your computer will recognize when to shut it down almost instantly. As always when modifying registry files be sure to backup your system and registry. As a secondary precaution create a restore point just so you have an ace in the hole if you need to restore your computer.

.)Click on start and then click on run

.)In the run box type in regedit and a new window will appear

.)From here keep expanding the text by clicking on the + (plus signs) until you get to here HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop

.)Now you should click once on Desktop and a bunch of different text with variables will appear and you want to find the text that says WaitToKillAppTimeout

.)Now right click on it choosing modify and change it's number to 800 and click on ok

.)Now locate the text that says HungAppTimeout and right click on and select modify

.)Change the number in this box to 800 and click ok

.)Now go all the way to where you first started in the registry editor window and keep expanding the +(plus signs) until you get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESSystemCurrentControlSetControl

.)Once you click on Control there will be different file names on the right side of this window, so find the one called WaitToKillServiceTimeout and right click on it selecting modify

.)Change the number in this box to 800 and click ok

.)Once more go to the top of the registry editor window and keep expanding the + (plus signs) until you get to HKEY_USERSDEFAULTControl PanelDesktop12.)Once you click on Desktop locate the file called WaitToKillAppTimeout and right click on it selecting to modify

.)Finally change this number to 800 and click ok and your finished

These registry tweaks will make your computer take a lot less time when it comes to shutting down your computer with little to no delay. If your still not satisfied then change all of these numbers (keep them all the numbers same just in case) to a lower amount and see what works for you.
