How to Connect Your Associated Content Articles to Your Own Blog

Link Your Articles to Your Blog with an Associated Content Widget RSS Feed

Blog owners writing for Associated Content can reprint their own articles or use a widget directly connected to their own content. Below are step by step instructions on how to put the widget on your blog. There's a widget on your own contributor page which is relatively easy to use if you know how to get there.

1. Log in to your Associated Content account. Next, click on your own picture. There you'll see your profile with a list of tabs.

2. Look for the "RSS & Widgets" tab. There, you'll see a list of types of feeds/widgets.

3. Go to the bottom of the screen and you'll see "Create a Contributor Feed / Widget."

4. Put your name in the search bar and click the "Search" button. Your photo will come up with a profile description.

5. Next, you'll click on the "Create" button. Below your profile picture and description, you'll see the HTML code for the Associated Content RSS feeds. You can choose either to have the small RSS feed orange button or a display of your content.

I chose a display of my content because I'd like people who read my blog to take a look at the articles. The RSS feed orange button is so common, it can be easily overlooked. Here's a link to my page and you'll see it on the right side, displaying my current content : The Arrogant Antagonist.

6. Copy and paste the HTML code in the page editor of your blog. Most blogs and sites today have both a Drag & Drop feature which makes it easy for people to see what they are doing plus an HTML editor to add various buttons, widgets, etc. customizing your pages.

I have two RSS feed features. One is from FeedBurner - a Google product and free which feeds my blog writings to Twitter and Facebook. The other is the Associated Content RSS feed. I have two because I don't always post everything on either site. This allows me to distribute more content to more people via the feeds.

Good ideas. I usually post the Associated Content RSS Feed to Squidoo, my Blogs and a few other feed sites, as well as having it automatically fed to Facebook, Digg and Zimbio.
