How to Connect You Computer to Your Stereo System

Milo Martinovich
Before you start to connect anything or buy cords you need to find out if your stereo can plug into your computer. Most modern stereos have auxiliary inputs. That is usually just a place to put red and white plugs from a RCA cord if you didn't know that.

This is a very simple step. If you can plug computer speakers or headphones into your computer, your computer can connect to your stereo. I know it seems like all computers have these sound jacks but some stock computers come without sound cards.

Once you know that both your stereo and computer can connect, you need to find the right cords to do so. All you need is an RCA cord with only the red and white cords and a Female RCA to 3.5 mm headphone adapter.

Connect one side of your RCA cord to your RCA to headphone adapter. Plug that into your headphone or speaker jack in the back of your computer. Plug the other end of the RCA cord into your stereo. Your cord are now complete.

Turn your stereo onto auxiliary mode and play some music on your computer. This should work 100% of the time unless your cords are plugged into the wrong ports. If music comes through, Congradulations!
