How to Connect Your Digital TV Converter Box

John Messina
All TV stations must be converted to Digital TV by February 19, 2009. For everyone that has purchased a TV converter box you have two options of connecting it to your TV set. Below are steps you need to take in choosing one of the two hook ups.

Apply for your $40 savings coupon so that each converter box (2 per household) will cost you only $20. Go to https://www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx to apply.

Once coupon arrives in your mail you will find recommended TV converter boxes and where to purchase them in your area. Purchase TV converter box and proceed to next step.

If your TV set has audio and video jacks, then use these connections to your converter box. You will get a clearer picture and audio. The jacks are color code Red/White (audio) and Yellow (video). Use the red, white and yellow cables supplied with your converter box.

If your TV set does not have these Red, White, and Yellow jacks then you must use the coax cable to connect it from your converter box to antenna input on back of your TV set. Use the supplied coax cable that came with your TV converter box.

Connect your antenna to your converter box then turn on TV and converter box.

Follow the on screen instructions for programming your converter box.
