How I Conquered Severe Asthma

Hope for Children Who Are Asthmatics

When I was about two years old, I was diagnosed with a severe form of asthma that would require me to take two different inhalers along with a nebulizer. Life was unbelievably tough and I would at least have two asthma attacks a day throughout my childhood. Fortunately, the nebulizer did relieve the asthma than the regular inhalers. The inhalers I took were very powerful and one of them would give me awful and frightening side effects. The powerful inhaler was called albuterol and there would be times where I would take eight puffs in one day. If you are familiar with this particular medicine, then you know that the major side effects are arrhythmias. I actually had a few arrhythmias from the albuterol inhaler and they were the most frightening experiences of my life. I felt that I was going to die, but because I was healthy with no other illnesses, I am here today writing this article as an asthma-free man.

I really do not know how my asthma was cured, but I can tell you that my symptoms completely disappeared by the time I was 16 years old. During my teen years, the Asthma did flare up at times, but I rarely used my inhaler to relieve the symptoms since they would go away on their own within ten minutes. I started taking sports at the age of eleven when I became a basketball junkie. I spent hours on the playground playing basketball with my friends knowing the consequences of overexerting yourself and I did not give a damn. I felt like I was on top of the world when I realized that my asthma symptoms started weakened. I strongly recommend everyone to not do what I did that because everyone's body is different and you can only take so much. Some people are healthy, while others have underlying illnesses that they are not aware about.

I am very fortunate to have recovered from my severe asthma and I am surprised that my body was able to handle it at a very young age. I'm also fortunate that I do not have to take the meds anymore. Just seeing an albuterol inhaler gives me shivers down my spine and it saddens me greatly that children actually take this medication. I pray for those children because I was once like them. I am evidence that asthma can disappear, but I believe that the fact I was involved in sports probably helped me out in the long-run.
