How to Contribute to World Firefox Day 2006

Become a Part of Firefox History

It used to be 'normal' to not have a favorite brand of a browser; back in the days when the major choice was in the selection of the computer processor (Intel or Pentium?), computer programs (Microsoft or Apple?), or Sony, HP, or Toshiba for the laptop? Today's influx of new browsers and user options has increased the potential for internet navigation for millions of web users. Mozilla Firefox has become a part of a booming community of browser users that offers additional benefits in add-ons and plug-ins; it is an open source code project, attempting to make its way to become a superior browser of choice.

World Firefox Day is scheduled to launch a user-contributed event on September 15, in honor of the Mozilla Foundation's growing community. Starting on July 15, 2006, users were able to invite a friend or acquaintance to jump on board the Firefox rush. Participants who respond to the invitation and download Firefox, can then become a part of Firefox history.

Both names will be forever a part of Firefox 2, due to make its debut on September 15. And no in any simple way; Firefox is attempting to place both you and your invite's name 'into the code' of their new version. It's a fresh spin on saying 'thank you' to the growing community of Mozilla fans and users. Of course the source code's list of names will not influence the program in any way, as it will be integrated into a 'notes' section or other area out of program-running reach. However, it is a unique way to deliver and spread the Firefox message with a personalized benefit.

Mozilla Firefox states its opportunity to hop aboard purely and simply: "Are you a fan of Firefox? Want to spread the word to a friend who hasn't heard of it yet? If you can convince just one person to switch to Firefox before September 15th, you'll both be immortalized in Firefox 2.0's source code." The blog SpreadFirefox.com has been created to increase its marketing opportunities, and offers a place to provide live updates on what is occurring in the wolrd of Firefox development. In order to spread the word, thousands of users are making creative efforts in their communities; logos of the Firefox browser etched into sand, crop circles, party decorations, and podcasts of Firefox sponsored events populate the globe; these can be reviewed at another Firefox site, TheFoxTales.com.

Mozilla Corporation is based out of Mountain View, California and has evolved from its root of developers and contributors of Netscape Navigator in 1998. Mozilla.org is a n informal association of developers, users, technical gurus, and program architects devoted to Mozilla's mission to promote its open source code presence on today's innovative internet. Projects are debugged in collaboration across the world, with various programmers contributing huge amounts of data to create a powerful web-based community. Mozilla.org declares that they are 'code integrators' since they are not the primary coders of the products, but instead work to coordinate and tackle various projects and innovations.
