Pratical Tips for a Successful Job Interview

No doubt that most times, emotions are present before and especially during a job interview. Sometimes, our behavior can be perceived by employers in the wrong way; they might think that we don't have enough self confidence. All we can do is to try keeping our emotions under control.

The first step you need to do is to become aware of your feelings. You must admit that emotions are something normal, even beneficial if we use them on our behalf. Often, in the attempt to hide our feelings, we behave strangely. What matters is to find out what scares you so much.

Get rid of any negative thought like: "I won't succeed." Block these thoughts and keep repeating that "I'm ready to make a good impression." If you don't succeed, think about one of your friends who represents a model for you and who manages to do everything in the right way.

It's very important to be rested before the job interview. The lack of sleep can seriously affect your intellectual and emotional capacities. Therefore, try to make something that relaxes you in the night before the interview and eat something light.

Don't drink coffee and don't smoke before the interview, because these substances stimulate the nervous system. Instead of doing this, it's better to drink a tea. If this gives you more confidence, keep a lucky item in the pocket.

Wear something comfortable; although you must choose a formal outfit, it must make you feel self confident. Choose something that fits you. Don't forget about shoes, which must also be comfortable, matching the overall appearance.

For women: Don't wear very high heels, especially if you're not used to them. It is recommended not to exaggerate when it comes about your appearance (stay away from false eyelashes, false nails or very long nails, strong colors).

Make sure it's everything all right before the interview, in order to avoid any embarrassing situations that might affect your self esteem. If you follow a certain treatment, take your pills before going to the interview.

Also, you can try some breathing exercises; they are very effective and will relax you.

Imagine that you already managed to get the job and that you work for that company.

Keep in mind the following tips:

- The one in front of you will try to find out as much information as possible; he's goal doesn't consist in finding reasons to reject your application;

- The success or failure of the interview depends on you;

- Practice in front of the mirror and try to behave naturally;

- You shouldn't have emotions; just be honest and tell the truth about yourself and about your experience;

- Wait and think before answering an interview question; you mustn't give the impression that you have all the answers.

    Very true. I like the tip about drinking tea instead of coffee - I had never thought of that before.
